My New York: A Mythology
New York City’s landscape is a medley of contradictions. ‘Objects’ of discard stand counterpose to symbols of aspiration. Innovation abuts antiquation. Acutely desperate figures live as neighbors with a seemingly self-assured, flourishing populace. The paintings in this series contain representations of objects and portraits from New York scenery. The observer is invited to play a role in the paintings which commences at the threshold of a polarized city with a divided psyche.
